Peter, Peter and his pride
Swore he’d lay down his life before Jesus died
Tried to make good on his oath by attacking a slave
But soon Satan’s sifting was pointing him to the grave.

But Peter repented, His sin Christ did bear.
Peter was attacked
But not with sword or with stone
It was when he was off- guard, afraid, and alone.

We must learn from Peter’s life
Though we feel close to Jesus and ready for strife
Be on guard for the pride that makes us so weak
Lest Satan succeed to sift us like wheat.
