Blessing of graduates

The East Texas Baptist Longview District Association held their 2nd Baccalaureate service on Sunday for the class of 2014 at Red Oak Baptist Church where H.C. Rockmore Sr. is pastor.

Brianna Stratton a graduate of Stephen F. Austin University said, “I feel like I have accomplished something in life.” Her advice for students is to stay focused and have a plan at all times. They should also avoid transfers because it sets students back and cost more.

Mariah Sanders graduated from Longview High School. She is excited about the future. Sanders will be attending Sam Houston State University to study nursing. Marquel Drayden will attend Kilgore and finish up at Stephen F. Austin University. He plans to study Marketing.

Dr. Prince A. Gipson of Christ Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana was the keynote speaker. Gipson spoke about wisdom and the absolute need of studying the Word of God. He told graduates and the audience that wisdom is developed in the crucible of life’s troubles. “Show me a wise person and I will show you a person who has had trouble,” he told his audience.
