LRMC presents evening with Rike
The old saying about a woman’s work never being done could not be more true. Mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends, mentors, volunteers and career professionals have to tend to the needs of so many others. Too often they have no time left for themselves. Longview Regional Medical Center’s (LRMC) Healthy Woman program aims to further the fairer sex’s mental, physical and spiritual well-being with its 4th Annual Healthy Woman Free Health Expo and Dinner Program. The event will convene for its anniversary get-together on August 9, at the Maude Cobb Convention Center and will feature such attractions as a free health expo from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., and a 6:30 evening meal with nationally acclaimed motivational speaker Abby Rike.
This loving self-improvement expert will humor and delight her listeners via her recounting of her life’s journey to the lofty plane of well adjustment. She will educate her audience on how to reach fulfilled, successful lives that are a blessing to themselves and those around them. LRMC CEO, Jim Kendrick outlined the event’s objectives.
“Women make between 80 and 90 percent of all health care decisions, often balance careers, primary and secondary families, issues with parents and civic work.Through the Healthy Woman Program, LRMC can provide them with information to make those decisions.” Said Kendrick.
Healthy Woman is a female-created forum that seeks to supply the latest healthcare information for entire families. In this event it seeks to enable Longview-area women on making the best decisions on physical and emotional healthcare for themselves and their loved ones. It addresses such problems as diabetes, heart disease, breast cancer, menopause, nutrition, osteoporosis, stress management and life balance issues.
The driving force behind the Anniversary event and monthly seminars, is the Healthy Woman Advisory Council, an all-woman council that works with LRMC to isolate significant subject matter for the program and ultimately promote it throughout East Texas.
Membership for Healthy Woman is free and as a member you have access to timely health information, can receive data on upcoming events and how to register for them, and manage their membership.
Libby Bryson, LRMC Director of Marketing said, “I am really excited about this event. It’s motivating to see the community’s continued support of our hospital and Healthy Woman program. Abby will have another warm welcome from Longview.” There will be 60 plus vendors and Diane Day will serve as the expo DJ and serving as the dinner program’s Mistress of Ceremonies will be KETK/KFXK’s Katie Green . The FREE expo, with door prizes will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. followed by a special dinner presentation featuring Abby Rike.
