City showcased at state travel fair

Longview Convention and Visitors Bureau attended the 58th Annual Texas Travel Counselors Conference and Texas Travel Industry’s Travel Fair in Lubbock April 22-25 according to Tourism Services Manager Margie Harris.

The Texas Travel Industry Association’s Texas Travel Fair, an annual trade show for TTIA members only, and is held as part of the Texas Travel Counselors Conference sponsored by the Texas Department of Transportation – Travel Information Division.

The travel counselors who attend this event work at Texas Department of Transportation Travel Information Centers, AAA offices, city visitor centers, Texas Parks and Wildlife offices, and Texas Highways magazine. These professionals give guidance to millions of travelers to Texas each year. As part of the training for travel counselors, TTIA members, like Longview CVB, are invited to discuss their destinations, attractions or events during the Texas Travel Fair.

Longview CVB staff had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with travel counselors. This year’s exhibit featured the Great Texas Balloon Race. Approximately 100 travel counselors attended the 2013 event.

The Longview Chamber of Commerce Convention and Visitors Bureau is the premier marketer of Longview. Our mission is to increase hotel and attraction visitors by promoting the Longview area as a desirable destination with distinction.
