Comptroller introduces new director

Texas Comptroller Susan Combs recently announced she has hired Brooke Botello as Communications Director for the Comptroller’s office.
Botello comes to Austin from Boston, where she was vice president of the public relations firm McDermott Ventures, representing a wide range of clients, including real estate, trade associations, bio-tech, start-up companies, consumer goods, non-profits, restaurants and retailers.  Her background also includes several years in Washington, D.C., working for former U.S. Sen. Gordon H. Smith of Oregon and the National Mining Association.  She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oregon.
“Brooke has the skills, talent and energy to work with the news media in diverse regions of Texas to keep the public informed about the state’s progress in conquering our current economic challenges and working more efficiently and effectively to meet Texans needs,” Combs stated.
Combs also announced that Allen Spelce will be joining the Property Tax Assistance Division (PTAD) effective Aug. 1.
“Allen has done an outstanding job in our Communications Division, and his talents will continue to be utilized to serve the people of Texas in our PTAD Division,” Combs said.
Staff changes take effect July 15.
