Eastman hosts Fire Protection School

The 40th Annual Northeast Texas Area Fire Protection School was recently held at Eastman Chemical Company’s fire training grounds located at its Longview, Texas site.
More than 300 emergency responders from neighboring communities traveled to Longview to attend the training.
This year’s school offered both classroom and hands-on training exercises that better equip volunteer, municipal and industrial firefighters for emergencies. This is one of the longest running area fire schools in the state. It has become a source of pride and a valuable resource to the safety of the region. Throughout the training, special emphasis was placed on firefighter safety and incident organization through the use of National Incident Management System (NIMS) protocols.
The school is conducted by the Emergency Services Training Institute Division of the Texas Engineering Extension Service, a member of the Texas A&M University System, and is sponsored by the Northeast Texas Firemen’s Association and the State Firemen’s and Fire Marshals’ Association of Texas. The facilities are provided by Eastman’s Texas Operations and the City of Longview Fire Department.
