Fall trash bash

The City of Longview and Keep Longview Beautiful will host Longview Recycles Day and the Fall Trash Bash on Saturday, November 9, at the Sears parking lot of the Longview Mall, 3500 McCann Road. The events, held in conjunction with America Recycles Day, encourage residents to recycle unwanted items and volunteer to help clean the community.

Longview Recycles Day will offer recycling for electronics, including TVs. Recycling will also be available for glass, motor oil & filters, plastic bags, batteries, ink cartridges, paper, cardboard, plastic and metal cans. Tire Recycling will also be available but will require a current water bill and drivers’ license for proof of Longview residence. In addition, the Lion’s Club will be accepting used eyeglasses. Habitat for Humanity will be accepting donations of building materials, lumber and scrap metal. Paper shredding services will also be provided for Longview residents.

For more information about recycling opportunities, contact the Sanitation Department at 903-237-1250.

Keep Longview Beautiful is asking residents to “Love Longview” by picking up litter in their neighborhoods, parks, and streets as part of the Fall Trash Bash on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 8am-Noon. Hundreds of volunteers have already signed up for the event. Volunteers may secure limited quantities of clean up equipment in advance of the event between 10am-1pm, Nov. 4-8, at the Keep Longview Beautiful office located in the Longview Public Library, 222 W. Cotton Street. Volunteers are encouraged to sign up for Fall Trash Bash by contacting Keep Longview Beautiful at 903-212-4552 or by emailing KLB@LongviewTexas.gov.

The Longview Fire Department will have their large ladder truck for display and the Longview Police Department will have their SWAT truck for display. Hot dogs will be provided by First Bank & Trust East Texas. For more information about the visit, visit Recycle.LongviewTexas.gov or www.KeepLongviewBeautiful.org.
