Golfing ‘fore’ PIP

The City of Longview Partners in Prevention’s Mentoring Advisory Council and Friends of Partners in Prevention are sponsoring the Drive to Inspire Golf Challenge benefitting the Partners in Prevention Mentoring Program. Shotgun start will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 25, at Wood Hollow Golf Course, 5121 McCann Road. Registration deadline for the four-person scramble is Tuesday, June 21. The cost is $75 per player/$300 per team. Sponsorship opportunities are available at $100, $350, and $500 levels.
Partners in Prevention Manager Holly Fuller states, “The idea of a Golf Challenge came from members of the Mentoring Advisory Council several months ago and they worked together to make it a reality. We are so grateful for the hard work of the Mentoring Advisory Council and Friends of Partners in Prevention board members. Johnny and Margie Medrano and Frank and Susan Richards are serving as co-chairs for the event and have done an outstanding job. We’re looking forward to an afternoon of fun on Saturday, June 25.”
The Partners in Prevention Mentoring Program provides students in Kindergarten – 12th grade with a caring adult mentor. Mentors meet with their mentees on a weekly basis to provide support and encouragement through fun and structured activities. Before being matched with their mentee, mentors are required to attend a two and a half hour training, provide personal references, and pass a criminal history background check. The next Mentoring Training is scheduled for June 17 at 11:30 a.m. A light lunch will be provided.
