The Gregg County job market got a boost of longevity Tuesday when Kilgore-based General Dynamics SATCOM Technologies and New Zealand-based Windflow Technology announced a 10-year agreement to manufacture two-bladed, 500-kilowatt wind turbines in Longview and Kilgore.
The companies announced the agreement at power-eng.com.
Windflow Technology manufactures two-blade turbines. General Dynamics is a worldwide supplier of satellite and wireless communication equipment and plans to sell the turbines to provide backup electricity supplies to customers and military bases in at least three continents.
The news came four days after the Texas Workforce Commission on Friday announced the Longview area had added 1,900 jobs over the past year and that unemployment in Gregg, Upshur and Rusk counties was 6.1 percent, down from 7.1 percent one year ago.
