It’s an “A Fair of the Heart” this February, when Good Shepherd Medical Center invites area residents to its annual community health fair events located in Longview and Marshall on Saturday, Feb. 15th and in Linden on February 21st (see times and locations below). Physicians from Good Shepherd Medical Associates will be on hand to answer health questions and community residents can participate in a variety of free health screenings and educational activities for the whole family.
Plus, there’ll be healthy snacks, fun giveaways and information on a range of health topics, including men and women’s health, orthopedics, active aging, diabetes, weight loss and more Free health screenings (valued up to $100) include blood pressure, pulse oxymetry (body’s oxygenation status), body composition (height, weight, waist circumference and BMI), body fat and a complete lipid profile (cholesterol, triglycerides and HDL).
Guests planning to participate in the lipid profile should fast 12 hours prior to screening to ensure accurate results. Other activities in Longview include ambulance tours by Champion EMS of Good Shepherd’s mobile intensive care units (ICUs) and Good Shepherd’s fun-filled fitness game, “Are You Fitter than Your Fifth Grader?” Contestants can put their agility and “body age” to the test and learn how to improve their fitness levels.
