Auditions for scholarships for the Kilgore College Dance Department will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, and 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12, on the Kilgore campus in the Parks Fitness Center. Scholarships are awarded based on talent, ability, potential, financial need and the student’s interest in continuing professionally as a dancer, teacher or in a related area.
A scholarship student must fulfill the course requirements of a dance major as described in the current college catalogue and maintain a 2.5 grade point average in all college courses. The scholarship is renewable for four semesters with amounts up to $500 per semester.
KC offers an intensive curriculum in ballet, modern dance, tap and jazz, choreography and performance for the beginning student as well as those with more extensive training.
Students can graduate with an Associates of Arts degree to enter the dance world or continue their studies at a four-year college or university where our courses will transfer in Fine Arts, Physical Education or Dance Education.
