King celebrations brings community together

IMG_5997-web   Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, annual memorial event brought out many diverse celebrations. There was the annual parade with so many people in attendance. The beautiful weather allowed many in the community to attend.

   According to Lamar Jones, Chairman of  MLK Jr. annual event,  this was one of the best years because of the weather. The whole weekend was sunny  And there was great participation in all the activities. Jones’ joy was seeing the community working together, across racial and denomination lines. He said. “It was a team effort.”

   Scholarships were given out in the amount of  three thousands dollars. The community festival had a lot of participation. He wished the passion will continue with more people working together across racial and denomination lines.

Pastor Tom McDaniel, Compassionate Award from infinitieplus magazine

   Scholarship essay contest awards:

1st Place Essay Winner: Christian Wilson-Senior LHS

2nd Place Essay Winner: Krista Bellamy-Senior  LHS

3rd Place Essay Winner: Kayla Romero-Senior  LHS

   Visual Arts Contest  (9th thru 12 grade):

1st Place Winner-Neira Sanchez

2nd Place Winner-Caitlin Wilcox

3rd Place Winner-Olivia Hill

   The Galilee Baptist Church Youth Steppers along with Vincent Mason the II participated in the events. All church services were well attended.IMG_5973-internet
