Marching in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King
The recent Dr. Martin Luther King celebrations honored the civil rights slain leader with several events. An ecumenical service, Dr. King’s march and awards ceremony are some of the events to honor King.
Keith Honey of AEP SWEPCO won the coveted Martin Luther King award for his outstanding work in the community.
Lamar Jones also won the award for his
own contributions in the public school and church arenas. Gene Birmingham from Marshall was also awarded for her ‘Good Samaritan’ work.
Dr. Mark Smith, Marshall ISD superintendent keynoted the event. In closing, he reminded everyone present of Dr. King’s question “What are you doing for others.”
