As Texas Governor Rick Perry is sworn into office, a young, state leader from East Texas will be nearby as an invited guest.
Lindale High School senior Tori Albritton received an invitation to the governor’s inauguration and will attend the ceremony on Tuesday, January 18 in Austin. Albritton received the invitation for her role as state president of the Texas Association of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA).
Albritton is the first Lindale High School student to serve as state FCCLA president.
FCCLA is a technical student organization for boys and girls in Family and Consumer Sciences education. FCCLA members address important personal, work, and social issues through family and consumer sciences education.
lbritton was nominated in February 2010 at the Region 3 FCCLA leadership meeting as a state officer candidate. Candidates from all five regions in Texas were interviewed by a nominating committee at the State FCCLA Leadership Conference in Dallas earlier this month. Albritton was selected Alli Online as the state president.
Albritton met with presidents from other states at the National Leadership Conference last summer in Chicago.
