Local students target Parkinson’s

cheerleader

Ashlyn Fleet, Sara Skrocki, Sage Sowels, Gracie Boudreau, Erin Williams, Taylea Vargas, Megan Pirtle and Ayotas Johnson are Moore Magnet MST School’s cheerleaders, and their service goes far beyond leading cheers.

They took the lead in the 6th Annual East Texas Parkinson’s Optimism Walk for Research on Saturday, May 4 in Tyler’s Rose Rudman Trails. Before the Walk even commenced they presented a $1004 donation to the American Parkinson Disease Association’s East Texas Chapter.

The Moore faculty and students raised the money during a drive held May 2.

“The overwhelming support shown by this generous donation will benefit many who suffer from this disease,” said Moore Principal Claude Lane.

Parkinson’s Disease presently afflicts an estimated 1.6 million Americans. So far there is no cure.
