Longview airport to receive extra funds

U.S. Senator John Cornyn of Texas has announced Longview’s East Texas Regional Airport will be receiving a federal grant of $461,555 to finance upgrading airport facilities.
The grant is being provided by the Federal Aviation Administration, which is part of the U.S. Department of Transportation.
“These funds will be used to address needed maintenance and safety improvements at East Texas Regional,” Cornyn said.  “In addition, quality transportation services are important for boosting local economic growth.
I commend the area leaders who worked to secure this funding.”
The grant will also finance repairs to an airport terminal entrance road and parking lot at the facility.  Both suffer from severe pavement deterioration that has produced dangerous driving surfaces.
Cornyn previously served Texas as attorney general, a supreme court justice and Bexar County district judge.  He also sits on the Finance, Judiciary, Armed Services and Budget committees, and is ranking Republican on the Judiciary Committee’s Immigration, Refugees and Border Security subcommittee.
