Master Garderners Learn at Lunch program slated January 8

The Gregg County Master Gardeners, Learn at Lunch program, will be Wednesday, January 8. Bruce Williams, a manager of Smotherman’s nursery, will be the speaker. His topic will be “Fruit Trees – Pruning and Planting”. The program will be held at the Gregg County Extension Auditorium, 405 E. Marshall in Longview, noon to 1:00 pm.

Williams is a member of the Gregg County Master Gardeners. He moved to East Texas because of its lifestyle and the diversity of the plant life of the area. He enjoys landscaping, working in the plant business and community gardening, but his passion is trees. Williams recently attended a Tree Workshop and will share what he learned about how to correctly plant fruit trees and prune them.

The Master Gardeners’ meetings are open to the public and presented for horticultural education. For information, call the Texas AgriLife Extension Service at 903-236-8429 or visit www.txmg.org/gregg.
