Peete ES: TISD names new principal

Tyler ISD is excited to announce the newest member of our team of outstanding principals, Mr. John Dees. He will join Tyler ISD as principal of Peete Elementary School in July.

“I’m excited to join a district, campus, and community that share my vision of high expectations for student success,” Mr. Dees said.

Mr. Dees comes to Tyler ISD from Grand Prairie ISD, in Grand Prairie, Texas, where he has served as an assistant principal since 2007. He started his career in education in 1999 as a second grade teacher, and worked as an art teacher for six years.

Mr. Dees will take over as principal when Mr. Freeman Sterling retires at the end of June. Mr. Sterling has served as principal at Peete for the past 18 years.

“Peete elementary has a history of strong leadership and academic success,” Mr. Dees said. “I look forward to building on a solid foundation to ensure that our future is even brighter than our great past.”

Mr. Dees received his Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Texas at Arlington, and his Master of Education in Educational Leadership at Dallas Baptist University.

Mr. Dees says he’s proud to call himself a Peete Wildcat, and looks forward to moving to the beautiful city of Tyler with his wife, Rhonda, and their three children.
