Pine Tree Foundation names new leadership

PT Education Foundation President Jason West recently announced that Vickie Echols and Donna Pruitt will guide the organization for the new-year.  Echols will continue working with Communication for the district while serving as Director of PT Education Foundation.  Donna Pruitt, Community Resource Coordinator, will assist with special projects and continue to serve on the Foundation Board of Directors.
The PT Education Foundation / Alumni Community is a community based advocate for public education in Pine Tree ISD.  The non-profit organization seeks to facilitate funding of innovative programs not typically funded by the school; and to recognize teachers, students, and alumni of outstanding distinction.
“Our goal was to find someone who could come in and drive the bus for this very important organization and help increase exposure in the district and the community,” said West. “We believe we found two such people in Vickie and Donna.”
Echols replaces the Foundation’s first Director, Cathy Shipp, who served over seven years and who recently retired from the district.
“Cathy helped the foundation get on its feet and built a firm foundation with many established and effective projects,” West said of Shipp. “She demonstrated enthusiasm, dedication, creativity, loyalty, a caring attitude at all times.”
Foundation Board members recommended Echols and Pruitt to step into the positions.  After interviews, a recommendation was made to the to the Pine Tree ISD Board of Trustees, by James Skeeler, who was serving as acting superintendent.
“I believe our current roles will complement and work hand in hand with the responsibilities of the Foundation,” said Echols.  “We have a great opportunity to build on the vision of Moving Pine Tree Forward for the students, staff and community as a whole.”
