A $3.8 million windfall from the Texas Department of Transportation is up for discussion at a Wednesday evening meeting of the Longview Metropolitan Planning Organization.
The agency’s board of directors meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Jo Ann Metcalf Municipal Building, at 300 W. Cotton Street, to discuss several proposed projects.
Two proposed projects will benefit the Greggton area, particularly around the West Longview Industrial District. The MPO has proposed adding a continuous left turn lane on U.S. 80 West between Fisher Road in Longview and Texas 42 in White Oak. Directors will also consider early engineering on a plan to widen Harrison Road (FM 2206) from two lanes to four lanes with traffic signal system upgrades.
MPO directors plan to revise the city’s Transportation Improvement Program and Metropolitan Transportation Plan to reflect funding on those projects.
The public is invited to attend Wednesday’s meeting and provide comments. A 30-day public comment and review period for the TIP and MTP – which both identify federal- and state-funded transportation projects – is scheduled for May 16 through June 14. Comments and questions may be sent to the Longview MPO; P.O. Box 1952; Longview, TX, 75606; or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org
