Salutatorians recognized

Tyler ISD is proud to recognize its salutatorians from the 2012 graduating class: Cristina Castillo-Gandarilla, from John Tyler High School, and Anish Patel, from Robert E. Lee High School.

Cristina was named Student of the Month in February; she earned a perfect score on the English Language portion of the Advanced Placement test; and she won second place at district UIL in the Ready Writing category. In addition to being an outstanding student, Cristina is also involved in several organizations at John Tyler. She is Treasurer of the National Honor Society, Vice President of the French Club, and a member of the AMIGOS Club.

After graduation, Cristina will attend the University of Texas at San Antonio where she plans to major in biology and minor in French.

Anish is President of Health Occupation Students of America and Secretary of the Book Club at Robert E. Lee. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. When Anish isn’t busy with academic and extra-curricular activities he volunteers with Trinity Mother Frances Hospital and Toys for Tots.

This fall Anish will attend the University of Texas at Austin where he will major in biology. After earning his undergraduate degree, Anish plans to attend medical school.
