Three Longview High School Band members have accomplished the highest honor a Texas music student can receive – seats in the 2010-11 Texas All-State Band.
Sarah Konvalin, Catherine Ross and Jennie Wortman were among more than 55,000 students who began the competitive process for the honor. They competed through online drugs without prescription several levels of auditions beginning in the fall to arrive at the state level. The ladies this past week performed a concert with their All-State counterparts during the Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention in San Antonio.
Konvalin, a French horn player, is the daughter of Tim
and Leslie Konvalin. She is a junior and is interested in attending majoring in music performance at University of North Texas.
Ross plays clarinet and is the daughter of Dr. John and Lisa Ross. She is a senior and plans to attend Baylor University and major in science.
Wortman, also a clarinet player, is the daughter of David and Lynn Wortman. She is a senior with plans to major in general studies at Texas A&M University.
