Tyler ISD director leaves district

After seven years of leading the athletics department of the Tyler Independent School District, Danny Long, Director diet without a of Athletics, has decided to leave Tyler ISD. Long has accepted the Athletic Director role for the Conroe Independent School District.

“We will miss Danny Long and his dedication to the Tyler ISD student athletes, coaches and Tyler community,” said Dr. Randy Reid, Superintendent of Schools.  “We wish him well in his new endeavors.”

Long says he has enjoyed his years at Tyler ISD and is accepting the new position for personal reasons.

“There are many wonderfully talented coaches and athletes here in Tyler ISD,” said Long. This community is full of great parents who support the many athletic opportunities that we offer the students.  Now it is time for me to move to the Houston area so I can be closer to members of my family.”

Reid also stated that Tyler ISD has quality staff in place to continue the functions of this position until a suitable replacement may be found.  The search will begin immediately to fill this role.

Long will transition to his new role over the next few weeks.
