UT Tyler nursing faculty recognized for research

Dr. Danice Brown Greer, clinical instructor at The University of Texas at Tyler, is the recipient of a Ph.D. Faculty Research Award from the UT Health Science Center at Houston School of Nursing, Dr. Linda Klotz, UT Tyler College of Nursing and Health Sciences dean, announced.
The award, in the amount of $300, is presented to a graduating Ph.D. student inrecognition of an outstanding dissertation in the area of clinical nursing research. Greer’s dissertation was “Improving Adherence in African-American Women with Hypertension.”
A UT Tyler faculty member since 2005, Greer received her doctoral degree
earlier this month. She also holds a master of science in nursing and bachelor of science in nursing, both from UT Tyler.
Before coming to UT Tyler, she served as an instructor at Tyler Junior College, where she received her associate of arts degree in nursing.
A Mineola resident, Greer has previously served various hospitals in and around the East Texas area. She also served the Tyler Smith County Health Department as the adult health coordinator.
Among other awards and honors, she received the 2007 Alpha Chi Honor Society Outstanding Faculty Award at UT Tyler and the 1995 UT Tyler Excellence in Nursing Award.
