Vitally important

During the 57th Annual Conference, on Vital Statistics in Austin, December 7th – 9th, the Northeast Texas Public Health District (NETPHD), Birth and Death Records Department, will receive the Exemplary Five Star Vital Registration Award from the Texas Department of State Health Services, Bureau of Vital Statistics.
Debbie Hilton, Director of Vital Statistics for NETPHD, says “We have received the Five Star Award each year since 2008 and strive for exemplary status, which is the top honor for this award.”  The Vital Statistics Department consists of Debbie Hilton, director, Sandra Magdaleno, and Micah Alsobrooks.
This award is presented annually for work in the area of Vital Registration. The criteria for qualifications of this award include:
• Timeliness of filing death registrations entered into the state database by the clerk’s office
• Attendance at the annual training conferences
• File better than State average of all fully electronic death records
• Completing an assessment survey
• Register 95% of birth records within one business day when released for filing
• Security measures for records
Micah Alsobrooks, Vital Statistics Clerk will be attending the conference and will accept the exemplary award for NETPHD.
