World Café slates ‘Pay a bill or buy a meal’

January is National Poverty in America Awareness Month.  Partners in Prevention’s Circles Guiding Coalition will host a World Café – Pay a Bill, or Buy a Meal? The event will take place on Tuesday, January 18, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center, 100 Grand Blvd.  The World Café will pose questions about poverty and financial insecurity. Holly Fuller, Partners in Prevention Manager, said, “There

are many myths about poverty.  For instance, ‘People wouldn’t be in poverty, if they would just get a job.’  False.  Most people in poverty are working.  There is an idea that poverty is only about finances, or lack thereof, but it’s so much more.  That is one reason we are hosting this World Café, to dispel the myths and engage the community in thinking about the impact of poverty from a different perspective.”
