Yoga classes offered

For the first time, Kilgore College students can take yoga as a kinesiology elective.
Beginning yoga courses will be offered both in Kilgore and Longview this fall, and the courses will count toward physical education requirements to graduate with an associate’s degree.
Kilgore yoga classes will be offered in Parks Fitness Center, and Longview classes will be offered at Good Shepherd Medical Centers’ Institute for Healthy Living on Hawkins Parkway.
Cecile Craft, KC’s yoga instructor, said she is excited that the college has made yoga a part of its kinesiology curriculum.
“Yoga is a true healing art,” Craft said. “It increases lung capacity and improves balance, coordination and flexibility. All of the benefits of yoga are too numerous to mention, but it is especially important for a healthy back, stress reduction and teaches students to live in the moment.”
Kilgore yoga classes will be offered this fall from 9 to 9:50 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays – and 11 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays – in Room 109 of the Parks Fitness Center.
Longview yoga classes will be offered this fall from 3 to 4:20 p.m. at the Institute for Healthy Living.
For more information, contact Craft at 903-315-8805 or e-mail her: cecilesc@aol.com.
Early Registration for the fall is under way until Aug. 9.  Late Registration is set for Aug. 16-17 on both the Kilgore and Longview campuses.
